IMPORTANT TELECOM DATES IN MARCH AND APRIL

The first important date is March 27, 2018 which will bring the final vote on the European Union Copyright Directive Article 13. Within this copyright directive is the proposed article that introduces an obligation for information society service providers that store and provide to the public access to filter user uploads. It also requires these providers to set up licensing agreements with rights holders, so they can filter anything that is uploaded to social media sharing sites. The community is largely views this as internet censorship.

The second important date is March 31, 2018. On this date, external VPNs will officially end in China and they will begin to filter overseas VPNs. Today citizens of China use external VPNs to communicate with sites that are blocked by the Great Firewall of China. Using external VPNs Chinese citizens are able to reach sites like Facebook or cryptocurrency trading sites. After March 31, only official VPNs will be allowed, locking down what can be accessed and no VPNs will be issued if they allows access to sites that are blocked. Decentralization will help get around this issue.

Lastly, if you remember back in December the title two regulations that protected net neutrality were voted down. On April 23, 2018 this will become official and title two protections within the United States will be removed. We are not suggesting that the internet in the US is going to be censored, but it does make way to allow that to happen in the future.

More to come with regards to these changes and information on how blockchain technology and alt coins can provide solutions to these changes.
